Trancendence 11-09-2008 PDF Print E-mail

I will radiate my sacred self outward for the collective good of all.

How might you choose to transcend the ego belief of separateness in the world at large? How have you been doing this?

The Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

What are your reactions to this prayer? How might you incorporate this in your reaching out to the world?

TRANCENDENCE

On my sacred quest I easily and effortlessly embrace transcendence. I help create a world ordered by the higher self. The collective good is my highest objective. I am one with God, one with humankind. I am grounded in love, tolerance, truth and purity.

I,____________, transcend the personal. I radiate my sacred self outward for the collective good of all. I am an agent of self-awareness and joyously contribute to the transformation of our world.

Purity 11-02-2008 PDF Print E-mail

I am aware that I do not need to dominate anyone in order
to be spiritually awake. I will work this day at my purest intentions for the highest good of all.

Dyer shares paths from dominance to tolerance.
Letting things be -- seeing the world as it is rather than as you demand it to be.
Listening--thus showing love and respect - giving--with awareness of the wants and needs of others and with no expectation of return.
Intimacy--extending love without needing to be right or make the other person wrong.

Share an example when you participated in one of these paths to tolerance. What happened? How did you feel? How might you increase your experiences of tolerance?
What does your ego say to you about the value--or dangers--of tolerance? About the importance of being right?

 “The central facet of your being is pure, good and beautiful.” Stop a moment and let this sentence resonate through you. Pay attention to your reaction. Are you fighting the truth of this? Let yourself imagine how your life would be different if you knew this. How might this change your actions?

How can you purify your thoughts and actions to match the purity of your center? Dyer suggests releasing belief in separateness, prejudice, libido, and addictive, contrary and comparison thinking. How might you incorporate freedom from these in your life?

PURITY

On my sacred quest I easily and effortlessly embrace purity. At the center of my being is pure goodness. Everything I think, say and do is with the purest of intentions and for the highest good of all. As I purify my thought I purify my emotions and my behavior.

I, ____________, celebrate the central facet of my being is pure, good and beautiful. The purity of my heart joyously expresses pure thoughts, emotions and behaviors.

Love 10-26-2008 PDF Print E-mail

I know that the very essence of my being and the way of transforming my life is love. My judgments prevent me from seeing the good that lies beyond appearances. I know that I am already whole and I need not chase after anything in order to be complete.

“The opposite of love is fear.” Do you agree -- disagree? Look to your life for examples. “Fear is a loving invitation to know more or to change something in your life.” Look at a fear in your life through this lens. What do you discover? How have you brought love rather than fear into your life?

Remember a time when you originally judged another by appearances and discovered your mistake. When someone’s conduct shows they are not driven by their highest self, how do you decline the invitation to judge them?

When you need more of anything to feel positive about yourself, peace is impossible. How might you also be judging yourself by appearances?

Which of the following have you used to move into the sacred quest?
becoming still...removing labels...looking for loving presence in others...defending the absent...picking up heavier objects… exercising compassion and love...cultivating your calling...affirming...reducing importance of grades...practicing generosity...having many moments of mindfulness

In order to stay focused on sending and receiving agape, the love of God, Dyer asks us to move into nothingness, surrender, acceptance, bewilderment, and patience. What do these mean to you?

 Love

 On my sacred quest I easily and effortlessly embrace love. Love is the focus of my life. Love is the essence of the universe. It is the central point of my existence. As I come to know my higher self I have a deepened sense of love. I am complete.

I, ____________, know the very essence of my being is love. I transform my life with love. I express love in service to God.

Peace 10-19-08 PDF Print E-mail

I know that my highest self is always ready to lift me up beyond the world I experience with my senses. I know I can connect my mind with the divine mind and guarantee myself peace in any moment. I know I am strengthened as I seek to make truth my personal reality.

What freedoms have you been pursuing outside yourself? Chemical freedom? Sexual freedom? Financial freedom?

Remember when you achieved something you had thought would be the answer to your quest for peace and freedom. Were you free? How long did the sense of freedom and peace last?

Notice if any of the following ego messages are operating to bring turmoil to your life:

  • confronting and arguing

  • competing and comparing

  • chasing and striving

  • worrying

  • saying “notice me”

  • giving yourself deadlines and pressures

  • accumulating and acquiring

  • chattering to yourself

  • rejoicing in the troubles of others

How might you release these practices & bring more peace to your life?

Peace comes through truth; there is a loving presence inside which truth will free. What are ways your ego tempts us to lie? What are the “rewards?” How can we embrace truth full time?

PEACE

On my sacred quest I easily and effortlessly embrace peace. I know peace is not the absence of conflict. I experience peace through the presence the God. Whatever I think, say or do, if it brings me a sense of peace, then I know I am expressing my higher self.

I, ____________, realize my relationship with God through prayer and meditation. I know the Great Spirit within me and know infinite peace is mine.

Compassion 10-12-2008 PDF Print E-mail

I realize that I am always free to let go and observe my life.

The more I listen the more profound the silence becomes.

Dyer describes the compassionate witness as the noticer. You are not your problems, your frustrations, or even your physical life; you are that which is noticing it all. Think of a problem or a frustration and observe it from the place of the compassionate witness. Consider using the third party to describe what is/was happening to you.

Observe your body, your mind, your life energy, and the world around you, calling upon the compassionate witness. Notice the shifts in energy. How difficult or easy is it to detach from the rightness or wrongness of what you observe? Allow space between the noticings. Be aware of what comes to you during these spaces.

This week practicing using non-judgmental compassionate witness in your life.

COMPASSION

On my sacred quest I easily and effortlessly embrace compassion. Compassion is developed by viewing myself and my world through the eyes of the inner compassionate witness. From this view, I gain the freedom of witnessing and observing my life from the Godforce within, wrapping me in love and peace.

THIS WEEKS AFFIRMATION:

I, _____________, shift my perception and cultivate the higher aspect of myself known as the compassionate witness. I am the compassionate observer. I enter the place of pure love.

This series of talks are inspired by Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book,

Your Sacred Self.
